teaching

Teaching is going great! we are half way through the quarter and i am enjoying it. So much so that actually they put in a request to make me full time faculty! nothing is official yet but they are trying to work it out. this would be great! especially considering my terrible office situation. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

resolution on the dallas situation

well. i finally got the approval to go to dallas. granted i have to pay a cover doc for 2 full days which will cost me 650, but i was allowed to go. my favorite part is she told me that if i was more intelligent i would have asked then bought the ticket. Nothing like being insulted by your boss!

Interesting...

As the whole world knows at this point, things have been pretty rough at work lately. Well I am trying to project new opportunities for myself and a positive future. It just might be working.
My program offered me 3 classes next quarter. it is still only 18 hours but it is something,
I just saw an add on the internet for the college I teach at for the medical assisting program, they need an A&P teacher among other things.
Maybe just maybe if I could put both of these together, it would be enough for me to make it.
I am going to keep projecting good thoughts, the sad part is one of them is to get fired so that I can get the heck out of here!

dallas

I was super excited last Friday because I booked a flight to dallas for a weekend to attend the parker seminars in September. I got a good price on a flight and was very excited to go. Well I told my boss that I was planning on attending and she said no. she said I cant be gone from the office because we are not busy enough for me to miss. (this was in a note on my desk, she couldnt speak to me in person). So I called and left a message that I wanted to talk about it and she would not return my phone call. So today I called her husband and the receptionist screened my call and 2 hours later the wife called me back. she was basically telling me I could not go.
My argument is
1 this is not paid time off
2 hire a fill in (which I have to pay for)
3 at this point i will have been there 6 1/2 months and i am entitled to 1 day off which is for a seminar
she still says no. then i say i have booked the flight already. after finding like 10 ways to put me down on the phone she says she will talk to her husband and let me know on monday.
seriously i dont think I am asking for much but obviously i am.
If she tells me no, I may not be able to stick this crap out much longer. at all!

busy weekend

another busy weekend went by. I swear I need a weekend to recover from the weekend.
Saturday we went to yellow springs to check out the hippies. I was really excited for this because I love the hippies but it wasnt as great as I thought it would be. It is just kind of a tour trap. It was ok but I was expecting more. Then we ran around town the rest of the afternoon.
Sunday we went and did some gardening. Things are slowing down lately. I got a bunch of black beans and lima beans but the wax and yellow beans are finishing up. The pumpkins on the other hand are crazy. seriously a few of my vines are about 15 feet by now! I also put in some cucumbers and some snow peas last week and they are starting to sprout.
This week I am going to see my new nephew bc jeremy is coming to town, I am meeting an animal massage therapist, i have work, class, prep work and i have to sleep at some point. lol
Another busy week in the works.....

maybe I am too nice

I had an appointment to meet a massage therapist who is certified in animal massage and I was super excited to meet her and make the connection. Well she no showed our meeting and I called her twice with no response. I was pretty disappointed.
Well she just emailed me (about 5 hours after our meeting time) apologizing and saying she had some family medical things last night, came home this morning and fell asleep and missed our meeting. I believe her and am willing to give it another try. I just hope I dont get blown off again. If I do I am going to be majorly upset. Oh well, I can either be hateful or forgiving and optimistic. I might as well be positive and maybe something good will happen!

this is bleak...

Dayton, the city I currently work in and live very close to is on the forbes list as one of the fastest dying cities in the country. Well that sucks.
I am not surprised, GM is a major employer here and they are closing plants left and right. What a bummer though. Hopefully the city can diversify and create some jobs for people. Dayton may be falling apart, but the whole US is not far behind. We need to focus our attention on these problems and do something about it. I guess we will see what november brings....

back in action.......finally

Sorry I have been MIA for the last month! Life has been sooo busy. I am working full time at the office. that is going ok. we are getting busier so that is good, the owner is just determined to be unhappy with me, for stupid things. but whatever, I am trying to keep my positive outlook on life.
I have been teaching my class for the last month and it is going great! I am really enjoying teaching but it is a ton of work. I feel like a student again. My weekends and evening are consumed with prep work. the night before class I stay up and finish getting everything ready. But it is good, and next quarter it will be great bc I wont have much prep to do. Today I upgraded and did a full powerpoint presentation for class. It made me feel like an official teacher using powerpoint. (I am a nerd I know).
Not much else is going on. I always enjoy my animal adjustments and I found a massage therapist on the internet in my town who does animal massage and we are going to get together Saturday. I think we will be great resources for each other.
The garden is coming along great. It has really turned into a family affair! I get mid week updates (it is at my inlaws house) and we go and garden each week and usually stay for sunday dinner so that has been great!
I am looking forward to this fall. I am planning on going to dallas in september for a conference and I cant wait for that! Another birthday is coming up before I know it, as well as both dogs bdays and our 5 year wedding anniversary. It should be a good season.
I promise not to abandon the blog again....I really do!
